Serene Gay is the Group Country Manager for Regional Southeast Asia at Visa, overseeing the company’s business in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Brunei. She plays a crucial role in shaping company strategy, driving innovation, and building key client and partner relationships. She also leads the account management teams for Global Clients and Global and Regional Acquirers across Asia Pacific. Serene is a member of Visa’s Asia Pacific Leadership Team and serves as the Executive Sponsor for Visa’s Women Network.

She joins Visa with over 20 years of experience in payments, including 17 years at Citi, where she held several regional and market leadership roles in Singapore, Thailand, and China. Her notable roles include Managing Director for Cards and Loans Business in both China and Singapore, leading digital transformation initiatives to address market disruptions and developing strategic collaborations with leading Fintechs. She has also held roles in digital banking, marketing, and data management, and served as Chairperson for Citi Women’s Council in Singapore.

Outside her time at Citi, Serene worked at GE Money in China, where she helped launch the company’s first co-branded product in a joint venture setup. She also spent two years as the Asia Pacific Lead for Managed Services at MasterCard Advisors, heading a team focused on digital, marketing, and card management services.

Based in Singapore, Serene has two daughters and enjoys traveling and discovering new experiences with her family.
