About the Author
Lady Emily Korir OAM is an acclaimed global advocate whose extraordinary journey—from the slums of Nakuru, Kenya, to international prominence—embodies resilience, hope, and unwavering determination. Born to a teenage mother as a result of rape, Emily’s life began in profound adversity. Yet through faith, courage, and perseverance, she transformed her pain into purpose, dedicating her life to uplifting women, migrants, and people with disabilities around the world.
In 2012, Emily’s life took a dramatic turn when she suffered a massive stroke. Doctors told her she would never walk, talk, read, or write again. Refusing to accept that prognosis, Emily defied all odds—relearning every basic function through sheer willpower and faith. Her remarkable recovery became the foundation of her mission to show that with resilience and divine grace, nothing is impossible.
From this deeply personal experience, Emily and her husband founded BET Group Global, turning their journey of recovery and inclusion into a movement for change. What began as a response to their own challenges has grown into BET Group Global and the BET Foundation, award-winning organizations championing accessible housing, disability inclusion, and gender justice across Australia and Africa. Through BET Group Global, Emily brings style and class to accessible housing promoting independence, dignity, and genuine choice for people with disabilities.
Her influence spans continents: from shaping disability services and developing respite homes in regional Australia and Kenya, to leading global advocacy against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) through the BET Foundation.
Emily’s leadership and impact have earned her international recognition, including induction into the South Australian Women’s Honour Roll, recognition as a Distinguished Alumni of Flinders University, and the prestigious Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM)—awarded by His Majesty King Charles III. She has also been named Most Outstanding CEO in Australia and Global CEO of the Year (London) and was recently honoured as the Global Woman of Influence Award Winner 2025 in Singapore.
A Stevie Awards winner in New York and a featured voice in Forbes, Eureka Business, and CEO Weekly, Emily Korir stands as a transformative global leader—relentlessly advancing inclusion, dignity, and opportunity for all.
