Ann-Marie Hermans

State Member of Parliament for the South-Eastern Metropolitan Region and the Shadow Assistant Minister for Community Safety

Ann-Marie Hermans is a State Member of Parliament for the South-Eastern Metropolitan Region and the Shadow Assistant Minister for Community Safety.

Elected at the 2022 State Election, Ann-Marie received the highest vote count of any Upper House Liberal candidate in the South-East. Her Shadow Ministerial and Shadow Assistant Ministerial portfolios have included roles across Education, Emergency Services, Work Cover, and TAC.

The proud daughter of migrant parents from Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Ann-Marie was raised with strong Liberal values of democracy, reward for effort, and the freedom of speech and religion. She grew up with a family of inspirational role models, from her grandparents and father who started three of the oldest voluntary fundraising Sri Lankan communities in Australia, to her mother who was a speech pathologist and a school principal. Growing up alongside her two siblings, she learned the importance of honesty, integrity, community-mindedness, and good old-fashioned hard work.

Ann-Marie holds two Master’s Degrees in Arts and Education (Leadership and Policy), two graduate diplomas, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences. Her working history includes experience in vocational, tertiary, high school and primary education, community housing, youth work, case management and managing not-for-profit organisations. She has volunteered in various countries in Africa and Asia. Before entering Parliament, she led an academic department at one of Australia’s leading all-girls’ schools, Presbyterian Ladies’ College, where she inspired and mentored Australia’s future women leaders.

Ann-Marie and her husband, Mark, raised their four children in their local community of the region she represents in Parliament. A passionate advocate for families, she is committed to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for families and young Victorians.

As a voice for Victoria’s forgotten people, Ann-Marie is a tireless advocate for her community, fighting for meaningful change and a brighter future for all.

We look forward to receiving the social media poster along with the details of the nominees and the scoring rubric for Ann-Marie’s assessment.
