About the Author
Amina Sherazee is a multi-award-winning human rights advocate and lawyer in Canada with over 25 years of litigation experience. She holds a Bachelor of Arts & Science from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Windsor, and a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University.
Throughout her distinguished career, Amina has litigated on issues impacting refugees, with a particular devotion to women’s rights and children’s rights. She was the first lawyer in Canada to bring the plight of women victims of sex trafficking to the fore. She currently serves as Director of Human Rights, Women’s Rights and Children’s Rights at the Constitutional Rights Centre and is developing an international mentorship programme for young female lawyers.
A recipient of the 2025 Human Rights Award at the Women Changing the World Global Awards, Amina speaks English, Urdu, Hindi and is learning Turkish, and Persian.
