About the Author

Dr Elke Duwenig is a biotechnology expert, scientist, keynote speaker, and consultant in strategy and policy work.

 

Elke is passionate about innovation and sustainability. She is safeguarding biotech products, opening markets and shaping legislative and regulatory frameworks globally, both for plant and microbial biotechnology and precision fermentation. She supports biotech products from the first idea through R&D to successfully bring them to the market, and is committed to embracing technology for a great future. 

 

Elke is a senior Regulatory & Government Affairs expert at Nutrition & Health, BASF. 

 

She studied biology and chemistry at the University of Münster, Germany and Stanford University, USA. Elke graduated in molecular plant physiology at IGF (Institut für Genbiologische Forschung) in Berlin. Before joining the industry as Head of Research and later Head of Government Relations for plant biotechnology at BASF Plant Science, she completed two postdocs at MPI (Max-Planck-Institute) in Golm and Freiburg University, Germany.
