Lady Emily Korir OAM is a global changemaker, entrepreneur, author, speaker and advocate for disability inclusion and women’s rights. Her journey reflects resilience and purpose, shaped by a life-changing stroke in Adelaide in 2012 and the long recovery that followed.
Rather than letting adversity define her, Emily rebuilt her life through faith, education and determination. She went on to earn an MBA in Human Resource Management and a Graduate Certificate in Disability Studies, using both personal experience and professional expertise to champion accessible housing, inclusive communities and support models based on choice and independence.
As the founder of BET Care Group and leader of Legetyo Queens, she has extended her impact across Australia, Kenya and beyond. Her work challenges disability stigma, promotes human rights and encourages real opportunities in education, work, relationships and community life for people with disabilities.
One of her most significant projects is a fully accessible respite centre for children with disabilities in Kenya, a groundbreaking initiative begun in December 2025 and planned to open in 2028. She also advocates strongly against female genital mutilation and forced marriage, supporting efforts that help girls stay safe, educated and empowered.
Through her books, Against All Odds and Leading Against All Odds: Rising in Influence Using Soft Leadership, and her talk show Stories of Hope with Lady Emily Korir OAM, she continues to inspire others with a simple message: every setback can become the start of a stronger story.
