Ooi Huey Tyng has over 30 years of experience in senior positions at global banks, leading payments technology providers, and fintech firms.
She currently serves as an independent director on multiple boards. At AIG Asia Pacific Insurance, she chairs the Risk Management Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee and Nomination Committee. Additionally, she holds an independent director role at Maxis Berhad, a prominent communications service provider in Malaysia, where she serves on the Audit and Risk Committee, Transformation Committee, and Remuneration Committee. Tyng is also a Board Member at Raffles Institution, a leading pre-tertiary institution in Singapore, and a Board Member at Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) and Food From The Heart, an IPC-status food charity. Recently, she was elected to the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) 2023/24 Governing Council.
In her previous role, Tyng served as Regional Managing Director and Head of GrabPay, where she successfully introduced GrabPay in multiple Southeast Asian markets. She also held nominee director positions in several GrabPay and GrabInsure joint venture companies. Before her tenure at Grab, Tyng was Visa’s Country Manager for Singapore and Brunei, making her the first female Singaporean to hold this position. She has also held senior leadership roles at Citibank, DBS, and UOB.
Tyng holds a Master of Science in Finance from Purdue University, USA, and is a Certified Public Accountant in Singapore and the UK. She is an INSEAD alumna and has completed the Advanced Management Program and International Directors Program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. In 2016, she served on Singapore’s Subcommittee of the Future Economy chaired by Minister Chan Chun Sing.
